Hello dear Community,
today, I am pleased to share a new series for Tanktastic, and this will take place on this Forum. Obviously, tanktastic countains tons of tank to play with, but most importantly, to figth against! Every aspect of a tank has influence on the battle, whether you are going to win or lose. Thus, knowing more than your opponent does could make you leaving the battlefield victorious. There already are several guides to become a better player in Tanktastic, telling you a lot of things which may turn out handy once you are in a fight. But, to kill your enemy, you must shoot it, preferably at less armored areas to deal more damage. That is the main goal of this series, to give information on your opponents armor profile, but of course also your own weak spots of your tank, with the intension of you leaving the battlefield victorious!
This topic is created to inform you on how these models are made, how to "read" them and more!
How the armor profiles are made:
To create a full armor profile of a specific tank, you need to test various things. For example, you try out all available ammunition types to get a general impression on how thick the armor is at that point. You test that on these parts of the tanks:
You test all ammunition types multiple times on one part to ensure that your results are correct. You write down the amount of damage dealt and keep this with you when you edit the tank's model. The final product of this progress is a 3D, coulered tank model that shows you a tank's armor profile through a innovative way, using SketchFab.
How to use the 3D model:
The 3D models are uploaded to SKetchFab, an online service where you can upload 3D files to view, whether you view it on your Phone or desktop, so the players can use it wherever they want to. To be able to turn and zoom the model, you need to click on the play button and the model will load up. The model is a .ply object and not downloadable, but users can view in it their browser/app. The thickness of the armor is shown by colours, ranging from green to red. In the following spoiler, you can see the legenda on how to 'read' this model:

Armor profile topic:
There will be a topic created for each region where new tank models of that specific region will be posted. Here will direct links to the sketchfab page of the tank model in question. It will also contain information on how to read the model, special thanks and eventually the average damage on parts of the tanks. If there are any mistakes or you have a question on a tank model, please send me a Personal Message.
Please, be advised that this is a volunteer series and is not official, nor related to TECREAT (Tanktastic English Community REcreational and promotionAl Team) and is based on in-game testing. There is a possibility that there are mistakes, and if you my discover one, please send me a Personal message here on the Forum, VK or Discord. 7
If you want to use, share etc somewhere else, please do ask my permission first.
DISCLAIMER: I do not own any of the models used to create the armor profiles; they belong to G.H.O.R. Cooperation. They are used for informational pruposes only and are not used in any other projects that are not for informative purposes! Please keep in mind that non of the models are downloadable from Sketchfab!
I would like to thank the following people for helping me:
- Qnomei, for helping me with the tank models.
- Smigstank, for helping with testing.
And of course you all for your time!
Kindest regards,
Dave
