OBB (Opaque Binary Blob) files are used by some Android applications sold on Google Play. Developers create OBB-files to contain and bundle larger assets using the JOBB-tool for Android SDK. They hold additional encrypted format data not stored in the main application package, including graphics and media files. They can be uploaded with the APK-file using the Google Play Developer Console. Users who download the application will receive both the APK-file and the APK Expansion File containing additional OBB asset files.
If you encounter that the game crashes after reaching the splash screen, the application's OBB-data is missing. You might have deleted it by a mistake or by using a cleaner.
When you uninstall an application, all the data linked to said application will also be deleted from your device. However, in some cases, the folder where the application's data was stored remains after the uninstall process. If this is the case, it does not work to re-install the game if the OBB-data's folder still remains in the apposite location of your device. That is because the folder which is supposed to contain the application's OBB-data will be searched for once you download an application from Google Play. If a folder is found to have same package name as the application you are downloading, only the APK-file will be downloaded and installed, but no OBB-data, as the system thinks you already have the OBB-data on your device. However, if no such folder is found during the download process, a new folder with the application's package name will be created and the OBB-data will be downloaded into it.
To solve this problem, do as following:
- If you do not have a file manager installed on your device, you have to download one. I recommend File Manager or ES File Explorer.
- You must delete the OBB-data's folder manually. Go to Storage - Emulated - 0 - Android - OBB and delete the folder named "ghor.games.tanktastic". When you have done this, try to re-install the game and check if it starts properly.
- You need to download the OBB-data to the folder if it did not start properly. Download the file to Storage - Emulated - 0 - Android - OBB - "ghor.games.tanktastic".
This should solve the problem. Otherwise, feel free to contact me and I will give you further instructions.
