CTF question

Just wondered why the flag automatically returns to base when you get to it.
Why not make it so you have to take it back to base?
This would make the game much more '2 dimensional', rather than just pushing forward to the enemy flag.
Being a relatively new player I don't know whether it used to be this way, or even if it has ever been tried. Maybe it was like this originally and has already been changed.

Points for returning your flag would need to be increased.

Well this mechanic helps with maps like Demomap as it's so small that this mechanic actually makes it more competitive and people returning would be instantly killed most likely because where the capturer is usually a very open and hard to survive spot hence why they were killed in the first place. Your idea would make more sense on bigger maps.


You don't choose the tank. The tank chooses you, and when it does respect it and it will respect you.

Create new game mode with only one new feature, is nonsense. Flag mode is qute hard for this moment, your suggestion will make it harder.

I appreciate and respect all your responses, thank you.
My opinion is it would make it a much more fluid game, with attacks on enemy flag followed by defensive retreats. With play fully across the map. Much like the slightly popular games of football or rugby.
